Ola Electric Bikes: Ola Electric has unveiled the much-awaited ‘Roadster Series’ motorcycles at its special annual event. This electric bike series includes many bikes. The biggest feature of these bikes is their range and their impressive design.
Speaking at the event, Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD, Ola Electric, said, “Today, motorcycles account for 2/3rd of India’s 2W market, and with Ola’s entry into this segment, EV penetration in the Indian 2W is likely to accelerate further.
We have already been successful in accelerating EV adoption in the scooter segment, and with our future portfolio of products, we are now focused on supercharging EV penetration through our motorcycles.
The Roadster X is part of the entry-level segment. With a maximum motor output of 11 kW, the Roadster X is the fastest electric motorcycle in the segment. Available in 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh and 4.5 kWh battery variants, the Roadster X accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 2.8 seconds (for the 4.5 kWh variant).
It has a top speed of 124 kmph and offers a range of 200 km (top variant). The Roadster X comes with an efficient Combi Braking System (CBS) that features advanced Brake by Wire technology with a disc brake at the front. The motorcycle also features Sports, Normal and Eco riding modes.
Powered by MoveOS 5 with a 4.3-inch LCD segment display, the Roadster OTA updates and more. The motorcycle also comes with digital key unlock and Ola Electric app connectivity.
The Roadster promises to be the fastest motorcycle in the commuter segment powered by a 13 kWh motor. Available in 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh and 6 kWh battery variants, it accelerates from 0-40 kmph in just 2 seconds (6 kWh). The motorcycle has a top speed of 126 kmph and offers a best-in-segment range of 248 km.
Riders can switch between four riding modes – Hyper, Sports, Normal and Eco. Powered by MoveOS 5, the Roadster features a segment-first 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen and is equipped with smart features like proximity unlock, cruise control, party mode, tamper alert as well as AI-powered features like cruise assistant, smartwatch app, road trip planner.
The motorcycle features disc brakes at the front and rear, supported by advanced single-channel ABS with sophisticated cornering ABS and brake-by-wire technology.
The Roadster Pro takes performance and technology to new heights. Powered by a motor with a maximum power output of 52 kW and 105 Nm of torque, the 16 kW variant of the motorcycle accelerates from 0-40 kmph in just 1.2 seconds, 0-60 kmph in 1.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 194 kmph.
The massive 16 kWh battery has an IDC-certified range of 579 km, making it not only the fastest but also the most efficient motorcycle in the segment.
The Roadster Pro features a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, USD (upside-down) forks, two-channel switchable ABS with front and rear disc brakes. This futuristic motorcycle features four riding modes (Hyper, Sport, Normal and Eco) and two DIY modes.
Price and Distribution Timeline
Reservations for all Roadster variants will start from August 15, 2024. At the company’s ‘Sankalp 2024’ event, CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said that deliveries of the Roadster Pro will begin next year in Diwali while the Roadster X and Roadster will be available from January 2025.
The 3.5kWh variant is priced at Rs 1.04 lakh, the 4.5kWh model at Rs 1.19 lakh and the 6kWh version at Rs 1.39 lakh, with deliveries scheduled to begin in Q4. The Roadster X series offers a more budget-friendly range: the 2.5kWh model is priced at Rs 74,000, the 3.5kWh at Rs 85,000 and the 4.5kWh at Rs 99,000.
